Modern machine learning progress has run on one assumption: that classical compute keeps
getting cheaper and more available. That assumption is strained. Training frontier-scale
models already costs tens of millions of dollars in compute, and the hardware scaling
curve that made the last decade of progress possible is flattening. At the same time,
quantum computing — algorithms, hardware, and simulators — has matured from a purely
academic curiosity into something researchers can experiment with today.
SkyNova Research was founded on a direct, first-hand observation: building computer
vision systems at scale makes the ceiling of classical compute viscerally obvious. We
started this lab to investigate — rigorously, not speculatively — where quantum
approaches can realistically extend that ceiling for machine learning, and where they
can't.
SkyNova Research
